@amanda.stevahn: With such a heavy heart, here’s an update… Pookie fought so, so hard in her last few incredibly difficult days. Before I was ready to admit it, she knew it was her time to stop fighting. She stopped eating completely and got so dehydrated (despite all of my forced efforts of food and water) that she couldn’t even stand up without collapsing :( We rushed her to the vet after the rapid decline in her health through her final days, But despite my very best efforts, the vet gently explained that even if I chose to spend $10,000 or more trying to bring her back to health, she was most likely far too sick to make it through the night, or even through the harsh treatment she would have needed to survive. They encouraged me to use her remaining time holding her close and give her all the love I possibly could.❤️‍🩹 Pook was ready to go. She was hanging on for dear life in her final moments, waiting for me to tell her it was okay to let go. We couldn’t let her suffer through the night, and after hours filled with tears, memories, so so much love, and all strength I could possibly muster up, i wanted her to go painlessly. She did not deserve to feel the fear of her last breaths, so we agreed to sedate her and lay her to rest in the most peaceful way possible. She very peacefully passed in my arms at about 2:00 am later that night/morning💔🤍 Pookie baby, mommy loves you more than a million words could even begin to express. You got me through the toughest times of my life. I still haven’t picked up your food bowl in hopes that maybe it won’t be real if I keep everything how it is. Falling asleep without you is impossible, and I swear I can still hear your silly little wobbly footsteps running to greet me everytime I walk in the door. I truly have no idea what I’m going to do without you. You are everything to me and you always will be. I miss you so, so much baby #longlivepookie #iloveyouforever
