I have Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, among other things, and I always thought it had to do with vagus nerve dysfunction? Because of Ehlers-Danlos, you have an autonomic nervous system dysfunction. I have noticed the correlation between eating and my pain getting worse. Often it wraps around to my back where my pain is often the worst. Also, when my pain increases then nausea and/or strikes. I’ve always had the pain nausea correlation.

this is definitely true I have gastroparisis and the better my pain is controlled the less my stomach bothers me and if I have a lot of physical pain I can't eat drives me nuts

So, even though I have all of this I am bypassed for 26 years and don’t absorb most of what I eat what do I do then? I also have been told that I should be on Ompresole for the rest of my life

I am on a course of antibiotics right now. This explains my pain spike. Thanks! I hope I get back down to normal after I'm done.

Can anyone list specific foods that seem to make their pain worse? I find that sugar and black tea make my pain worse, but I also use sugar to manage my mood. It is like a vicious cycle.

If only my ADHD didn't make me not want to eat, or only eat "safe" foods. My gut health is a mess.

I was discovered to have quite significant gut ulcers a couple of years ago. I have to take nexium to help with that or otherwise I'd be sick. I also have undiagnosed IBS (my mum had it and I have the same symptoms)
I always get bloated and uncomfortable and have intense stomach cramps from time to time. So bad that I have to breathe and groan out the pain.
Not 1 doctor has mentioned my diet to me.

My doctor suggested Mediterranean diet. I tried that for 3 months. I didn’t mind the food. I liked the taste and experience (I’m from the Deep South so many of the foods were quite new to me.) I have very slow digestion already but by changing my diet to this I gained I GAINED 20 pounds. It makes no sense because the foods should be more healthy and inherently less portion sizes. ((If it isn’t clear, I can only eat small portions due to slow digestion.)

I never had gut issues until the chronic pain started. Pain management isn’t being treated (due to gaslighting), so I’m trying to treat my gut inflammation
