@sellersdozen: It’s February, and camp doesn’t even start until May. Still, they’ve already started preparing for Excel Summer Leadership Camp! Being willing and helping with animals. Jumping in with our work and their dad’s projects. Taking on small jobs to help neighbors. Willingness at this age is something I pay attention to. I care about them having ownership in the things they want to do. If they’re going to step into something that’s meant to stretch them spiritually and physically, I want them to feel like they helped build the bridge that got them there. Excel is designed for young leaders ages 13 to 18 who want to grow in discernment, think critically about their faith, and live it out with confidence. They’ll climb, camp, raft, train in wilderness first aid and CPR, and spend time with other Christian students who take their faith seriously. At the same time, I don’t think responsibility and community cancel each other out. I want my kids to work toward what they value and can do on their own, and I also know how powerful it is when a community chooses to invest in young people who are trying. I am so thankful for the adults in our life who take the time with them and offer them opportunities that grow them. There’s something formative about both initiative and community support! And watching it unfold months before summer even arrives has been encouraging in ways I didn’t quite expect! 🥰 #teens #summercamp #sponsored
