This is so true! I got one from one of the doctors I worked with. It was heartfelt and brought me to tears. Made me wanna hire me! Lol! I didn’t realize I made an impact after all those years working as a charge nurse in the recovery area. The anesthesiologist took note of every critical moment I took care of his patients while being in another case. I’m tempted to frame it now. Such a morale booster. 😎

This is a great tip. Also they are very valuable references when you are asked to write letters of recommendation later in your career. Some of the best writing I e ever read has been LORs.

I failed to match urology a couple weeks ago and requested my letters so i can apply for research positions. You are so right that on my darkest days I’ve been reading the letters to give me glimmers of hope.

DVM: I am so glad I’m not crazy for recommending this! I have told so many vet students that I have written letters for this and they look at me like I’m crazy! This is HUGE and so helpful for people!

I had my mentor write me a letter of rec when I applied to dental school... I’m now in my 3rd year and my mentor unexpectedly passed away about 6 months ago. I’m so grateful to have that letter. Definitely save them.

Very true… I got letters from John Jane and Ed Laws years ago and reading the words of giants on occasion helps reset things.
