"that's a wyvern" there's no such thing as a clear biological difference that defines what a dragon is compared to a wyvern in any actual mythos, may old stories describe dragons with just two legs where other describe them as 4 legged... the "4 leg = dragon , 2 leg= wyvern" idea just came about in recent decades due to the rise in popularity of things like dungeons and dragons and monster manuals that needed to make up clear rules to differentiate between creatures IN THEY'RE FICTIONAL UNIVERSES, not in others.... please stop spreading this false information about dragon's that are clearly dragon and that the creators of the movie/ show/ book have explicitly called dragons, not actuality being dragons because you said so and you want to sound like a smartass

Yes, Smaug can speak, and he often talks in riddles. Bilbo was one of the first people clever enough to truly understand and respond to him in that way. There were also the spiders of Mirkwood, who are descendants of Shelob. When Bilbo was wearing the One Ring, he could understand them. Without it, their speech would have just sounded like hisses and clicks. The spiders even mocked Bilbo, calling him “Crazy cob,” “attercop,” and “lazy lob. However, the One Ring seems to give Bilbo a limited and specific ability to understand certain evil creatures while he is wearing it. It mainly works on creatures that are closely connected to Sauron, the master of the Ring

the presantation of smaug is insine. he is allways put to scall around the environent, he talks dramaticly yet he as a primal and wild tone like somebody who tries to not let their anger take the better of themself, his theme put importance to his monologues and when he breath his fire it is magnificent because not only because it hundrens of litters of fire by second but the sounds who comes with it the combination of the current of fire and the roar of smaug is just stunning

I was just annoyed at how fast he was killed. I mean, I watched it in a marathon, and I was annoyed. Imagine having the coolest dragon in fiction and waiting like 2 years just for him to die in the first 30 minutes

I believe the name comes from when the giant spiders attack them, and bilbo freed them and himself. hitting the spiders with the blade and they scream of how the blade stings them. Thought I might be wrong
