PSA: This is educational, not medical advice. If you have chronic insomnia (3+ nights/week for 3+ months), loud snoring/pauses in breathing, or severe daytime sleepiness—please talk to a clinician (sleep apnea is common + treatable).
Not a cure / not your fault
👉Yoga can be a supportive tool, not a cure. Poor sleep isn’t a “discipline problem”—it’s often stress, hormones, pain, meds, environment, or a sleep disorder. Be gentle with yourself.
Don’t force it
👉The goal isn’t to “knock yourself out.” It’s to downshift your nervous system so sleep can happen more naturally. If you start trying too hard, it can backfire.
Trauma-sensitive note
👉If closing your eyes or stillness feels activating, keep your eyes open, shorten the practice, or skip Shavasana. Safety comes first.
Medication / health conditions
👉If you’re pregnant, have uncontrolled blood pressure, cardiac conditions, or are managing a complex medical condition—check with your clinician before new breathwork or inversions.
My goal here at stillness and strength is to increase accessibility to preventative medicine and free, natural tools to mitigate neurologically induced stress and dysregulation, as always- use tools with rational and seek medical assistance if you suspect you may have an acute diagnoses 💗💗💗 stillness and strength always 🥰🥰🥰
