I'm surprised at how many people think Japan is a crime-free utopia. As a Japanese person, I know that Japan's crime rate is definitely one of the lowest in the world, but murders still happen.

You guys need to understand that not ALL of the citizens in Japan meet the stereotypes you have given them. It shouldn’t be surprising to you guys that this is the reality that Japan is facing (along with other 1st world countries) no country is “totally safe”.

This was not a random attack. The suspect and the victims knew each other and had a dispute before the incident. The stabbing happened after an argument late at night in Dotonbori, Osaka. One victim sadly died and two were injured. The suspect was arrested shortly after. Police confirmed it was a personal conflict, not an attack targeting tourists or strangers.
