only acceptable time is before or after the class the following week, makes sense since they likely dont want to double book your work for the class. but once had a professor in community college that had an assignment do Monday at 10pm. keep in mind at the time I worked somewhere that I had to work late on weekends, oh and she only gave the assignment on Sunday when I was already at work, not to mention I had classes and work on Monday. had to agree with her that its not fair and her response was "then find time". like how you barely gave 24 hours

Imagine what life was like when you actually had to turn in an assignment in person.

i had one make the due date switch between 11:59AM and 11:59PM. It made me want to lose my mind. I missed an exam once cause i thought it was PM instead of AM

I have a professor who makes all assignments due on Friday, which is fine. it's the fact that they are either due at 11:59 pm, 11:30 pm, or freaking 2 pm for me! make up your mind please!

I don't see any reason for the deadline to be anything besides their office hours or the start of class. They aren't grading at midnight. Having it in 8 hours before office hours or 10 minutes before office hours has no bearing on the content of the assignment.
