@itsalvinhuang: This is why no one hires Singaporeans. We’re no longer competing locally. We’re competing globally. If someone in Vietnam, Malaysia, or the Philippines can deliver the same output at a lower cost, businesses will choose value every time. Remote work changed the game. High performers exist everywhere. It’s no longer about location it’s about leverage. In today’s market, your salary is a function of the value you create. Global hiring. Remote teams. Talent arbitrage. Price vs value. Are you competitive on a world stage? #fyp #buisnessowner #founderadvice #entrepreneur #business #buisnessgrowth #leadership #hiring

Exactly. That’s how I operate my companies too… for 8 years. Only customer facing jobs in SG, back / middle office in Philippines and Vietnam. However, need to provide a lot of training to the overseas staff, which requires a lot of patience. But in the long term, it pays off.

No one hiring because other countries are cheaper but don't worry, soon everyone will not have a job since AI can do everyone's job for FREE 🤣

During 2020, when the MOM policy then to increase the E-pass min salary to above 4.5k, a friend set up office in Philippines, that was his first remote team was formed. The story was that he had 3 Filipino CAD designers that needed to renew their E-pass as their pay then ranged from 3.3k to 4k. The revised pay was 4.5k.

once I work from home... the company will realize that they don't need you at the office and they might as well hire someone else outside Singapore which are much more cheaper. so those who keep insisting on work from home... good luck..

AI has levelled up people regardless of which country or education. The accessibility for people to develop their skills via AI in developing countries has attracted SMEs and even MNCs who are willing to re-shore key jobs. So SG needs its workforce to move to higher level of skills, design and development. However that sectors which requires higher level of pay may not be attractive for SMEs so they would rather higher someone from developing countries to learn the skills with AI faster and take up the job. It depends on urgency if the project needs to be build within a few months they may just pay a someone very expensive to get the job done and let go while asking their juniors to understudy and take over. However most freelancers professionals know this so they will have contractual agreement that no one can understudy them. So what the plan? How the workforce going to navigate pragmatism against the graduates aspirants and even senior workers who now have jobs reassigned?

My company .. a global MNC has operations & offices in Malaysia, Philippines, Indonesia, Vietnam. But the hiring there is not as fantastic as you make it seem, in fact almost just backfills only. That’s why those countries are still facing bigger job deficiencies & unemployments than us here, their salary package much smaller or even contract basis.
