Fun fact!! You can look up their tag numbers and find out info about them! I also HIGHLY recommend reporting/emailing park staff about where you found them. It’s recommended by the conservation programs/USFW so they can track observations/where they are at and so they are aware how close they are getting to areas where people frequent since they are naturally curious about people :)

Just as a fun fact this particular species of bird existed when wooly mammoths existed and there were so many more back then (obviously). They’re from Pleistocene era. So technically they’ve outlived their era and still somehow survived

When I was a kid they were all in zoos and there were only 22 of them and my parents took us to the San Diego zoo and were like take a look cuz you’ll probably never see one as an adult. What a comeback story! Conservation success!

Fun Fact: The Phoenix zoo also plays a crucial role into saving these condors!!! The Phoenix Zoo paired up with U.S Fish and Wildlife Service's California Condor Recovery Program, to help conversation efforts, which includes trapping, testing and treatment of lead poisoning!!!
