We have hydraulic tables that move back and forth forth so many passes per recipe with 3 proximity switches, one home, one end stop, and the other is like the counter to keep it from going home. Sometimes the wires get wet or cut.

Prox switches can do some weird things! We got a small overhead crane runs off air valve with an electric drive motor with an encoder. Drop test pieces in acid baths. Sometimes permisisives show ok but both prox switches are show ok.

I always telly mechanics, just because you see a pretty light that means nothing. It takes almost no voltage to light a led but the only real test is if you have 24v at the input card.
