singapore is blessed....with the vision and commitment of the founding fathers laying the foundation. it is awesome. however, singapore basically exists because the powers that be in the world wants it to be. if most megacorp shipping companies were to abandone singapore as a hub, singapore will basically be bankrupt.

Singapore’s leading political party uses similar method of identifying scholars, nurturing them, testing them through the military/public sectors, drawing them into civil service, promoting them to positions of power. It’s not perfect and there were misses in the past. But mistakes that’s not an impeaching on integrity are sometimes tolerated if repented because if every mistake, minor or major,leads to removal then no one will or can serve long term.

Very well said. Singapore is able to think, plan and do long term. It has a plan out to 100 years and the government actually thinks that it will be around to enact this plan. Which is very rare in any other jurisdiction.
