🦌 The story of the deer and the people Imagine this: A huge stone is rolling toward a gate, and many people are behind that gate. If the stone reaches the gate, it will break through and destroy them. Then the huge deer comes and stops the stone, using its strength to protect the people. But instead of being grateful, the people inside the gate shoot arrows at the deer. The deer realizes: “I am risking my life to protect people who are hurting me.” So the deer moves away and allows the stone to continue toward the gate. 🔥 The deeper life lesson This teaches us about ungratefulness and the consequences of rejecting someone who is trying to help you. Sometimes a person can: defend you when others are against you, help you when you are struggling, sacrifice their time and resources for you, protect you from a problem, stand with you when nobody else does. But after you are safe, you may turn against the very person who helped you. And eventually, that person may say: “If my help is not valued, I will step back.” Not because they want you to die or suffer, but because you cannot continually attack someone who is trying to help you and expect them to keep putting themselves in danger for you. 📖 A strong Bible example — David and Saul David repeatedly protected Israel and served Saul. Yet Saul became jealous and tried to kill David. David eventually had to flee and separate himself from Saul. David didn't take revenge when he had the opportunity. Instead, he said: 1 Samuel 24:6 (GNB): “May the LORD keep me from doing anything to my master, whom the LORD has chosen.” David teaches us something important: You can stop helping someone without becoming their enemy. You can walk away without seeking revenge. 🙏 And there is an even deeper spiritual lesson Sometimes God sends people into our lives as a blessing, but we don't recognize them. We should therefore learn to ask: “Who has God used to help me, and have I appreciated them?” Don't wait until someone is gone before realizing their value. A person you are throwing arrows at today may be the very person God used to protect you yesterday. And one more important lesson: Never become the person behind the gate. Don't be so blind to your blessings that you attack the people God has used to help you. Be grateful. Be humble. Recognize sacrifice. And when someone helps you, don't repay their kindness with arrows.
