I had this trick with one of my old dogs its like a reaction word everytime i say a certain word he would look at me like im giving him a treat cuz everytime i gave him a treat i said applejuice and he looked up every single time and mostly i just do it now i get his attention but it takes dedication to do it it usually takes over a few months

Refocus them. Treat them for any time they look back at you! They need to realize you’re the focus. Not everything around them.

My dog used to do this all the time. I started taking high value treats out on walks and would play a sniffing game with him whenever I saw something I knew he would react to I would get his attention by putting a treat under his nose and when he focused on me I would throw a few on the ground and wait until he sat then I would say find and let him search for the treats, he always calmed down. It takes a little while but works a treat!!
