@courtneyjordan_esq: Did your car insurance just go up? It might be because your car is snitching on you. Manufacturers track your events, bundle that data into a risk score, and sell it to data brokers. Your insurance company buys the score and raises your premiums. The Federal Vehicle Data Privacy Bill is trying to stop this. It declares you own your driving data, not the manufacturer. Search for your car’s consumer privacy request and demand to opt out of data sales today. ##insurance##lexisnexis##privacy##lawyer##lawtok

I opt out of Lexus nexus. Yrs ago. But know they are basing my insurance on my credit score and raised by $200 a month for the same truck. They sent me a letter explaining why it went up!! I’m not even sure how they ran my credit without my permission but they did!!

While shopping for a car, to replace my old non-computerized car, I was appalled when I read manufacturers’ data-sharing practices (and how it can include your voice, image and locations). When/if I buy a car, I’ll quickly reject all data sharing, and I’ll NEVER activate the data link because even if the data isn’t shared/sold, it’s still collected and used in some way that you haven’t approved.

This is completely true and needs to stop, however I drive a much older car and my rates still skyrocketed. I firmly believe they’ll use the lack of data to charge you more also.

This is exactly why the first thing I did with my 2025 Toyota Cancer Camry XSE I went into the privacy sharing center and signed the “do not share/sell my data”!!! I recommend everyone do that before you even leave the car lot!!!!

Same reason they demand your drivers license when you buy tobacco. I’m 62 years old back. My license is damaged half the time I cannot buy Copenhagen. It’s all about tracking.

Tesla is the only company I know that doesn’t cellular data and you must consent to share any data. It’s very visible and easy to get to and their vehicle menu.
