It’s so upsetting. Someone needs to make a book for our future kids, to see all the kind of careers out there. I wish I would had known of all theses careers

Looking into MRI tech. There is an online school that doesn’t require pre requisites or to go through the radiology schooling before hand! You come out ready for to take the ARMRIT.

Echo tech is NOTTTT a soft job. Yes the pay is okay, but the pain your shoulder, elbow, wrist goes through to have to get the images on some of those patients is definitely something that needs to be compensated accordingly. It’s also something that takes years to get good at. It’s not just going in and taking quick pictures of the heart, it’s a skill that needs to be refined and that takes a lot of practice. You also have to know exactly what you’re looking at so that you can report back to the cardiologist immediately if you see something that needs to be addressed. Essentially you’re the one reading the exam. That takes a lot of studying. And it can definitely be high stress both in outpatient and especially hospital settings because you are thrown into several high tension scenarios where the view of the cardiologist depends completely on you and you’re in a room full of people that are all watching you. If you are considering cardiac sonography, definitely shadow or volunteer at a hospital so that you know what you’re getting into.

So, I’m 51 and starting over from scratch. My end goal is to get into radiation or sonography, but I need to get into a job as quickly as possible in the healthcare field and work my way up and go to school as I’m working.

Where do you start before getting your degree? I’m a C.N.A. currently and I’m already so burnt out. What job options would be best while pursuing school?

I’m an RN in lifestyle medicine and I love it! It’s very low stress, only a few patients per day (our appointments are about an hour long), minimal exposure to contagious illnesses, and I bond so much with our patients, it’s like I get to be their friend and support them through lifestyle change! Not to mention great hours and we only see patients M-W and we do community events and such on Th-F!

Sonographers work life balance is highly debatable 😂 most Sonos take call after working full shifts. Sonography isn’t a cop out job.
