It’s almost been 3 years since I lost my dad and I just went through your account- your artwork is beautiful and really resonates. Grief maybe gets easier with time, but it never really goes away. I still find myself crying over mundane things we would do together like shamrock shakes or back to school shopping. Every day that you get up and persevere is progress. Like many people have said, grief isn’t linear. There are no corners or a right path to take, it’s just a road.

One year is absolutely nothing in terms of how long grief will be felt. Do not let anyone tell you that you should “get over” this. Take it in small steps. It will get easier to hold the grief. It won’t burn you every time you look on it one day. I lost my dad when I was 11. I’m turning 28 this year. Sit with the pain as you need to. It’s okay to hurt, hell it *still* hurts for me. You grow around the grief. I promise.
