@alinamcleod: Would you visit here all alone? 😬🇲🇾 Located on the outskirts of Ipoh in central Malaysia lies a ‘almost’ abandoned village called Papan. Having its heyday in the early 1900s, it sadly fell into ruin when the tin industry collapsed. Homes and businesses sat for decades before anyone began to uncover the lives that took place here. Even now most of the buildings are still frozen in time but in disrepair, but change has come! In recent years there have actually been quite a few families who have moved in and are creating a whole new community in this forgotten enclove. I would highly recommend visiting if you are into seeing abandoned places with interesting backstories. Did you managed to visit Sybil Kathigasu’s clinic and read her book No Dram of Mercy. She was our WW2 hero and honoured with George Medal for Gallantry a few months before her death.
