@therapistinrecovery: OCD is fueled, in part, by staying hidden. Meta OCD is a way that OCD tries to keep itself around. Don’t let it. If you want to be sure you have ocd, watch my pinned video and know that we have to be our biggest advocate. if people don’t listen, then they aren’t the right people. You deserve to be heard and you deserve to get help ❤️ #obsessivecompulsivedisorder #ocdawareness #ocdsupport #ocdtok #anxious
And it doesn’t stop even when I have the specialist and I have the diagnosis. I still feel like I’m lying even though I know I’m not

I thought I might have OCD. But I saw a whole bunch of videos with people saying that if it doesn’t disrupt your daily functioning, then you don’t have it. So I figured, I don’t have it. And then I was diagnosed with it. I have all 4 types. Maybe it doesn’t “disrupt” my life because I’ve made time for it or just learned to cope. Or maybe mine is just on the milder side. Like, I stare at the door lock until my brain says it’s good. So, I don’t have to check it again. I’m never late for work because I have to be there 15 minutes early cause that’s also a compulsion.

I decided to get diagnosed after watching your video about contamination OCD-I always thought mine couldn’t be OCD cause I wasn’t afraid of getting sick at all, but just couldn’t stand feeling the “dirt” on my hands, body, and home, which I didn’t know could also be OCD. I thought I was just more clean than average until coming across your video, but then I decided to go see a psychiatrist and was diagnosed. Then my OCD started telling me that I’ve just tricked myself and my doctor based on a random tiktok. Then I learned about meta OCD, and it’s now telling me I think I’ve been tricking myself because I know about meta OCD and I am further deepening my delusional diagnosis, but that in reality, I don’t have anything. It’s a never ending loop and being aware unfortunately doesn’t solve it by itself. I still haven’t been able to convince myself to start the treatment (I’m really scared of being one of those ‘dirty’ people that I unintentionally judge all the time) but hopefully I’ll get there. Anyway, I still wanted to thank you for all your posts, I can at least feel seen and understood!

I got diagnosed with OCD a few weeks ago by a very experienced OCD specialist. she mentioned that meta is one of my subtypes. I choose to go to an OCD PHP 2 weeks ago. UNFORTUNATELY the program psychiatrist talk reinforced my donuts because she said I have "GAD with OCD tendencies"?! I haven't stopped thinking about it since! my program therapist has been encouraging me to sit with and tolerate the ambiguity but it's driving me crazy!!

A couple months ago I passed out in public and ever since I’ve had the same sensations I had that day before passing out. Now going to do anything in public can trigger this, and I’ve tried pretty much everything to resolve this but it still happens. I had just about every test possible done and everything is normal with me so I don’t know what to do anymore. I started escitalopram about a week ago and for some reason I feel like it’s not the right choice and I’m still missing what is wrong with me. Please give me any guidance you may have.

I spend 3-5 hours a night researching on Google/chatgpt/reddit/TikTok trying to find confirmation/enough proof that I truly have OCD. If that's not a sign 🤦🏼♂️. Trying to decide with my therapist between DBT (for unrelated issues) or ERP first.

Mines js autism, I’m definitely a hypochondriac but I do have that overstimulated sensation that I’m gonna hurt myself or another person if I don’t get away and calm down, so I gotta get away because of how bothered I am and that I don’t wanna hurt anyone, especially the fact bc I have hurt another person that I loved.

is anyone willing to share how they went about getting diagnosed? I have brought up my suspicions that I have OCD to several therapists, and none of them assess me. should I seek out a psychiatrist? or does it have to be an OCD specialist?

Sooo not being able to sleep unless I check and re lock the door making sure all the curtains are closed and then making sure I sleep on top a blanket so I don’t touch the bare bed could be OCD like I can’t be comfortable intill I do said things

I for sure have BFRB which I know is like a cousin to OCD, wondering if they can be co morbid? Or is it really just OCD that focuses on the body? Something I’m definitely gonna talk to my therapist about

I dont know what I have but my therapist always downplays any time i ever even hit at a diagnosis. First AdHD and I wont even bring up OCD - because she'll just say - no, you don't have it. Yet, ai am here obsessed about how to talk to her about my concerns.

I'm not sure how bad it needs to be for me to think about talking to a therapist about magical thinking OCD
