favorite scene is at the pool table ... the android asks why did you create me? ... the answer was because we could. nothing deep or meaningful. humans want to ask the same to the engineers and got the same answer. the irony of it all

Did we ever get an answer to why the engineers wanted to destroy humans? My theory is human curiosity knows no bounds. The simple fact that humans were able to evolve intellectually enough to create androids like David and create a means to travel through space to meet their ‘makers’ and demand answers to Dr Shaw’s questions like “why did you create us?” Proves that we were an experiment gone bad and destined to spiral out of control. We created David and look at the chaos he caused. He was our creation just as we were the engineers.
