@wearedigitaldiplomacy: Will Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez run for President of the United States in 2028? This was a question she was asked at the Munich Security Conference in Germany this past weekend. Ocasio-Cortez — better known as AOC — evaded the question, but her presence in Munich certainly looked like a way to amplify her international standing in case she decides to run to replace President Donald Trump in 2028. Another White House hopeful in Munich was California Governor Gavin Newsom, Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer, and Arizona senators Ruben Gallego and Mark Kelly. Representing Trump was instead US Secretary of State Marco Rubio. In Munich, Ocasio-Cortez offered a competing vision, deriding the Trump administration’s recent global policy decisions. She said: “We are seeing our presidential administration tear apart the trans-Atlantic partnership, rip up every democratic norm. And so I think one of the reasons why is not just myself, but many of our colleagues here, in fact, Democrats, many Democrats that are here as well, is because we want to tell a larger story that what is happening is indeed very grave.” AOC added. “But that does not mean that the majority of Americans are ready to walk away from a rules-based order and that we’re ready to walk away from democracy.” #diplomacy #digitaldiplomacy
