Did you use this same system when you first started? I’m starting off and a lot of people are pushing on the security deposit for table and chair rentals on Facebook marketplace.

So say they pay a $50 booking deposit for the reservation then on pickup day they pay a $100 security deposit in addition to the total rental cost then you refund the $100 of no issue? Just trying to make sure I understand correctly

How do you package your axe throwing yard game? I assembled mine yesterday and it was a bit of a pain. I was thinking maybe leaving some of it put together until it fits in a bin. Do you take your completely apart and have the build it?

Thank you Emily! This was super helpful. I got my first booking and panicked because I don’t really understand Stripe yet. I was able to change the settings to allow me to hold a customer card on file for future use, but I’m not sure I really want to use the invoicing feature. I’ve just got to play around with it to figure it out, but somehow I feel overwhelmed with learning a new system! I’ve been in business with my other company for nearly 16 years! Sheesh.

Through stripe are you invoicing or are you sending payment links in order to store cards on file?

Do you put a “hold” on their card like big rental companies like atv’s do?

What do you use for payments? Right now I’m only using CashApp & Venmo but I want to start holding cards on file

I read a Reddit post of someone getting locked out of their Stripe account. Went down a rabbit hole and eliminated my security deposit 😅. High frequency of refunds = potential flagged account = potential banned. I know Stripe lets you hold a value on the card and then let it go kind of like the gas pump holds $100 sometimes and that’s the recommended method, I haven’t figured it out yet.

Question... when you post your rentals, you post them for the weekend. How do you price them if someone wanted to rent during the week?

So if you have their card on file, there is no need to go back and ask them to pay a cleaning fee or whatever, especially if they have already signed a contract agreeing to that, right? If you have their card on file, what benefit is a security deposit?

So I’ve been charging that rental fee and the security deposit that both have to be paid before anything is booked and the only reason I do that is because first of all they’re taking my booking off the listing and also the contract states and I purchased from you that if they cancel short before the rental, then they don’t get their money back, so how do you avoid that?
