I grew up around black bears in Pennsylvania. They ate plants & vegetation. This is not normal behavior of a black bear vs human encounter… this bear must’ve been starving.

such a terrible story. ive always heard black bears are less likely to attack you (make yourself big usually scares them) compared to Grizzlys. she tried everything to get the bear away from her husband

I visualise these stories as you tell them and its so terrifying to even imagine the pain, trauma and immense fear that these people must have experienced. The level of PTSD that these individuals must have must be beyond repair. Rest in peace Robert 🕊
