That’s crazy. Probably a bent contact in the usb c plug, and that caused it to short circuit. Now a short that caused that much heat to melt the plastic, the integrated fuse in the adapter should have blown, unless it’s a real cheap on without a fuse

You’re never supposed to leave chargers plugged in while not in use. Very dangerous.

Cheap Chinese junk. If you buy gas station chargers, unplug them.
