@space.2o: What if you shaped 100,000 m² of desert? Desert Breath by D.A.ST. Arteam — Danae Stratou, Alexandra Stratou, and Stella Konstantinidis. | In 1997 8,000 m³ of sand were displaced to form precise positive and negative conical volumes. These cones generate two interlocking spirals expanding from a shared center, offset by 180 degrees. At the core sits a 30-meter diameter circular basin, originally filled with water positioned between the immensity of the sea and the immensity of the desert. From above, the work reads as geometry. From the ground, it becomes a physical experience of scale and horizon. Completed in March 1997, Desert Breath still exists. Its slow erosion has turned it into a quiet instrument for measuring time. Here, the desert isn’t decorated. It’s reconfigured. Credits Project — Desert Breath Artists — D.A.ST.
