@emily_infocus: when I found out I had cataracts in both eyes, I had a hard time finding other young patients like me. there was seemingly no one to ask advice or compare stories with. I hope to help another young cataract patient by sharing my story. #newoutlook #EduTok #eyehealth #eyesight #cataractsurgery

I've had cataract surgery 7 weeks and 2 weeks ago. I'm 35. I'm highly myopic in both eyes (-11 diopters) and now I can see without glasses for distance but need reading glasses.

Had cataract surgery a month ago, (Im 60). I have a very strong script (-10) I had multi focal Odyssey lens implants which were crazy expensive but would allow me no glasses. I love them!! It has given me a new lease on life. Do your research on types of lenses. If you can afford them, get the best. It was the best money I’ve ever spent.

I was diagnosed with cataracts in both eyes at 29. I’m now 35 cataracts aren’t ready to be taken out and I wear progressive eyeglasses full-time and I still see clearly . Good luck in your journey.

I was born with congenital cataracts. i started having surgery at the age of 7 months. But back then, there was not as much in the way of medical technology as today. And I cannot drive, but I haven't a vision to do pretty much anything.I want to do. i am considered legally blind. But as you know, there are many levels of blindness. my husband and I own a landscape business and except for driving.I'm quite independent. i suppose it's been easier for me than for you because I grew up not knowing any different. you are young, but
I'm sure you will do quite well. saying a prayer for you and your journey.

I was told 56 was too young to have cataracts and had 1 fixed so far with astigmatism and a multifocal lens. 100% success. Now I need to save up for the other eye.

I’m 50 and just had cataract and astigmatism correction in both eyes . Right eye 5 months ago and left yesterday . I get strobes from lights at night with right and early days with left but it’s been worth it . Don’t worry . I had cataract behind lens in right and two different types in left eye above the lens and both very progressive I could just see shadows

Some facts to hopefully give peace of mind. Over 3 million cataract surgeries are performed successfully every year year in US making it the most common outpatient surgery. Everyone will get cataracts. Talk with people that have had cataract surgery even if they are not your age. It’s unbelievably simple. Speak with a surgeon and make sure you are comfortable with them. If not, get additional opinions. Your myopia may put you at higher risk for RD.
