I hope you get to recoup what you put into the house atleast… I wish I had a chance to know my parents better. For better or worse it doesn’t matter to me. My dad was murdered when I was 7-8yrs old. Back in 95. My mom passed away a week before my 15th birthday. I ended up in foster homes. Everything you could imagine bad in a foster home/ group home, I seen it, been through it. My mom worked a lot and because of that at 8yrs old I was taught how to cook on the stove, do my own laundry, get up get ready for school. My pass is my past. when I turned 18 and I came home from work, the foster home had my bags sitting on the front porch. They met me at the door, asked for their key and the dad shook my hand said we can give u a ride somewhere if you got a place to go. I didn’t cry, I didn’t say anything. I grab my 55gal contractor bag filled with my rubbish, walked from mesick mi to Luther mi. My aunts ex bf was there, he lived like the Amish. No electricity, outhouse. Had tons of old fords on his land. I remember that walk. It was like a good 14hrs. Walked all through the night and by mid afternoon I made it into Luther. Stopped in town dying of thirst, which Luther’s town is like you blink u miss it. My aunts ex bf was still my uncle. Him and his family were welcoming with open arms. I started working at R&R tire behind Thè hardware store in Luther, fixing small engines and changing tires for $5 an hour. My uncle found out that my mom had a life insurance policy from little river casino. Got like $28k from that, and my tribe had a CD trust fund for members when they turn 18. My uncle helped me get that, which was around $5800. I bought a chunk of land in Luther. I started my own business, UnlimitedServices LLC. got a DBA/DBL. it was slow going and I had no education really. So lawns I started with. I then started a job working for this guy who buys wooded land, logs it out, then resells it. Has his own real state. So here I am 18 running a skidder, plowing trees, operating a big ass chainsaw trimming the trees, then using the claw on the skidder to drag logs to a landing spot, then to load a tractor and trailer, then drive up to a nearby sawmill.
