It doesn't have to go on the top of the damn door lol it can go on the side ..and yes there's damage I have two and both doors are pitted from them..they work well for the purpose

I bought 4 of these off Amazon. it does not work on certain *french* doors but all our traditional doors it does and I LOVE THEM. You can take it off and take with you, load up in a diaper bag, keep a spare. So far its the only child lock my 4yr hasnt figured out cause he can't reach the handle and the lock at the same time 👏👏👏👏

ooh this would have been soo helpful when I couldn't keep my 3 year old in her bed and she would wake up at 2am and run outside in the snow.. I stacked baby gates up her door😅 until she figured out how to climb
