@peco.unlockchina: Chinese New Year Customs! In China, we just call the holiday Spring Festival (Chun Jie). 🏮 Actually, the real holiday is a 8-10 days marathon, not just one day! I’m Peco, taking you to experience the real Chinese New Year in my hometown. #chinesenewyear #lunarnewyear #springfestival #chineseculture #chinatravel
The Chinese in China normaly call it "Spring Festival". In the West, it had been called "Chinese new year", because it originated in China based on the traditional Chinese calendar (also called lunisolar calendar) , and also because for this cultural tradition China is absolutely dominant. It was South Korea and some western politicians who aim to erase Chinese cultural influence, they raised the term "lunar new year", the 1.4 Billion Chinese people will never accept it.

When you are in China, sure you don't tell people that you are from China, You may say you come from Beijing, come from Shanghai, but you won't say I come from China right? It is the same for Chinese new year.

Your bio shows your hometown is Shenzhen. The traditions you’re sharing with us, are they the same throughout all of China, or are some of them more regional?

Basically, the “lunar” calendar we are talking about here is also called " the traditional chinese calendar" or "chinese calendar" or "lunisolar calendar". It doesn't matter how many asian countries are using it, it was originated/created in China, and has been used much longer, more commonly and widely in China than in other asian countries 😆
