I mean it makes sense. As the hitting team you’d also rather take one out, even if it’s automatic, then an almost guaranteed double play

we had a game once where the ump called an infield fly on a ball hit to the left fielder resulting in us getting doubled off and losing the tournament cause we would’ve had bases loaded no 1 out
