@kelliacooks: Why I will NEVER buy “sashimi grade” salmon from anywhere else!! Costco is just as good and sooo much cheaper. Steps to prep ➡️🍣 #sushi #costcofinds #costco #salmon #budgetmeals
All of yall complaining about farm raised. YALL KNOW THAT IF YOU BUY THE WILD CAUGHT SALMON THERE ARE PARASITES STILL IN IT. You can’t eat that raw bruhhhh.

"Oh but it has to be sushi grade!" Sushi grade isn't a thing. Your local sushi joint doesn't buy special salmon, they buy this.

As someone employed by the largest salmon producer in the world - your wild caught salmon has already mated with farm raised. Fish escape, seals break nets, storms happen. Literal bounties will be put out on fish that escape to curb cross breeding. Second, you should not eat raw wild caught. Third, there are several tiers of grading when it comes to raised salmon. Deformation exists, particularly in under-regulated regions - Asia particularly. Fourth, care about your producer if you’re worried about feed - our company produces our own feed for many origins having direct control over nutrition. Best origins - Faroe, Scotland, Ireland, Norway.

I just wanted to clarify something here. This is fairly fundamental sushi and fish preparation knowledge that I learned while working in the industry.
If it seemed like I was copying @The Sushi Guy, that wasn’t the case. I appreciate anyone who helps educate others about proper fish handling and preparation, including @The Sushi Guy. Thank you for popularizing this!
At the end of the day, I hope everyone enjoys their salmon and has a very happy Lunar New Year! ❤️❤️

Costco employee here! In response to the “you cant eat it/can you eat it raw?” questions: Yes you can eat it raw! Our poke and sashimi platters from the deli are cut from our salmon/other fish and are always ready to eat ❤️Just keep in mind consuming any raw food REGARDLESS of where you got it from could potentially contain bacterias that may make you sick (improper handling, shipments, packaging, temperature, cross contamination, etc). Our salmon is farm raised AND sushi grade. While we do our absolute best to ensure no damage of product (constant monitoring, super strict SSOPS and every person working in the warehouse is food safety and hazardous waste trained), there are always those 1%’s that occur literally anywhere when you consume anything raw.

Yes, the salmon used for sashimi in Costco’s prepared sushi/sashimi trays is generally the same high-quality, farm-raised Atlantic salmon sold in their fresh fish section. Due to strict farming regulations and feeding, this farmed salmon is considered safe to eat raw by many, though some prefer to freeze it first

Isn’t Atlantic farm raised salmon some of the most unhealthy and unenvironmental food to exist? Fed pellets, has parasites, damaging to ecosystems

You cannot flash freeze it from home. Your regular refrigerator does not go that low in temperature. Anyway, i do this with farm raised salmon. Absolutely the way to go. “Sushi grade” is just a marketing term.

These people complaining about farm raised are the same people who drink raw milk, like at this point just let the nature do its job.
