I think the first step should be regulation. Box breathing, body scans, grounding, anything that talks to the nervous system directly rather than trying to go through cognition to reach the body. If you're having overwhelming emotions, thinking more isn't going to help especially if you're an over-intellectualizer. AAfter you're calm then reflecting is good
