@iamjackiesam: I had no clue what I was getting myself into.. Somehow I missed any mention of these Turkish ice cream vendors during my pre-trip research. While in Istanbul I kept seeing tons of ice cream booths advertising “magic ice cream.” I finally got curious enough to get myself an ice cream. I had not watched any other customers buying their ice cream so I had no clue what to expect. The ice cream man (they’re called dondurmacı) basically trolls you endlessly for several minutes before you finally get your ice cream. Just when you think you’ve got it, you are wrong because its just another trick. * The reason I am pulling away from the guy in the video is because just seconds before he had rubbed the ice cream on my nose! Honestly I was a bit annoyed and angry by it and I definitely didn’t want more sticky ice cream on my face so that’s why I was trying to hard to get away 😆😂🙈 (New Trust Issues Unlocked). By the way, Turkish ice cream (dondurma) is different from typical western ice cream. It is exceptionally stretchy, chewy, and has a thick texture, which resists melting. The ice cream is made from salep (powdered wild orchid root) and mastic (a tree resin), and often rich goat milk – this is what gives it an almost taffy-like consistency. #turkishicecream #türkiye #travelturkey #visitistanbul #funnytravel
