I think this framing misses an important piece of context. “Spending less but spending better” only works if you already have the financial room to spend more upfront. A €110 T-shirt or a £300 sweater isn’t a smarter choice for most women – it’s simply out of reach. That’s not a lack of knowledge or intention, it’s a lack of disposable income. When this is presented as a universal solution, it subtly turns structural inequality into an individual responsibility problem: if your wardrobe isn’t “right”, you just didn’t shop smart enough. That’s where it becomes class-blind, even if the values behind it are well-intentioned. Ethical production and durability matter. But access to those choices is uneven – and pretending otherwise creates moral distinction rather than real inclusion. It would land very differently if this was framed as: “This works if you have the budget”, instead of implying that everyone just needs better guidance.
