If you forget what protection does just remember DEBT. Protection protects from Damage, Equipping/Enchanting, Blocking, and Targeting.

I mean you can attack, but there's little payoff unless you have attack trigger and protection from everything doesn't only include things that target you, it also includes creatures.

you can still attack but protection includes damage, you can attack but the player wouldn't get hurt. one of the 4 core components is literally damage. if they have protection from everything nothing can deal that damage

I've had literal arguments with my pid regarding protection with me in the wrong for about a whole hour... I swore up and down "protection means im untouchable" now that I've learned what protection actually does, it actually isn't that good outside of cEDH.
