@nssastronomy2: Cassini–Huygens took seven years to travel from Earth to Saturn before entering orbit in 2004. It then studied the planet for 13 years and ended its mission with a dramatic plunge into Saturn’s atmosphere in September 2017. Cassini also carried the Huygens lander, which successfully touched down on Titan in 2005. During its mission, it discovered a subsurface ocean beneath the icy crust of Enceladus, detected massive plumes erupting from its surface, and provided the most detailed images ever taken of Saturn’s rings and atmosphere. The Cassini–Huygens mission was named after two great astronomers: Giovanni Domenico Cassini, who studied Saturn’s moons and rings, and Christiaan Huygens, who discovered Titan. The name honors their foundational contributions to the exploration of Saturn and symbolically connects 17th-century astronomy with the modern era of space exploration. #universe #space #nasa #saturn #fyp
