Vietnam (Tết Nguyên Đán), China, South Korea (Seollal), North Korea, Mongolia (Tsagaan Sar), Taiwan, and many Southeast Asian countries like Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, and the Philippines all celebrate it with their own names and traditions. “Chinese New Year” is only China’s version of the Lunar New Year, so using “Lunar New Year” is more accurate and respectful.
