@drmorganyost3: Empty nose syndrome is complex — and symptoms are real. Here’s what research says about management. #EmptyNoseSyndrome #ENTDoctor #DrYostENT #HealthTok #nasalhealth
My nose feels like this most of the time now. I noticed it about 5 months ago. Recently when I take my prescribed Adderall it makes the air hunger 10 times worse which sends me into panic mode. My chest actually hurts at the end of the day from constantly taking deep breaths.

Can this happen to someone who hasn't had nasal surgery? I have always felt like I don't get enough air when I breathe through my nose. I've seen an ENT in the past and there doesn't seem to be a physical reason.

I have that sensation of not being able to breathe, and it gets much worse with the smells of perfumes and detergents; could it be this syndrome?

I forgot to mention that when I went last my ENT couldn’t figure out what on earth is going on as most drs say all seem fine but the other colleague who I went for a second opinion said most likely based on my symptoms. What a roller coaster . Your life becomes hell as I was so healthy at 62

I’m 3 months post op from a Septoplasty with bilateral inferior turbinate reduction and about 2 weeks I’ve been having this feeling of feeling like a booger is in my nose but when I go to pick or blow it out nothing comes I went to my ent doctor she says it was nothing there and everything looks fine so what could it be and what can I do to fix it?

Its important to look past the archaic text book methods of ens, and start to realize its at its core a mucosal and nerve damage syndrome. Yes it is multi factorial but if you have mucosal contact with air and the body percieves itself as breathing it truly doesnt matter much at how much volume is there hence why so many people have turbinectomies and still do not get ens. Everything about ENS is nerve related.
Either the receptors are damaged or they don't get activated enough because of lack of moisture and airflow contact.

One easy way to know is by sticking your finger up there and feeling the inside of the nose. It’s either just dry and thin or dry and has a rubbery feel to it.
