In what universe wouldn’t any creature be watching the dude with the broom who’s beating up a haystack, irregardless of where King Kong used to be? You expect the animal or human even to ignore the clearly more exciting stimulus?

Raccoons and coyotes have a theory of mind that develops in early adolescence. I’ve seen a lot of evidence of both and I’m at some point going to record it in a controlled environment and submit it for peer review. 💜

For those that are clueless what this experiment means. Well it means non-humans in this case creatures like the ape can display the Theory of the Mind like humans can. So what the heck does that mean? Well this: What another individual can see. What another individual knows. What another individual intends. What this means is empathy is not a human first trait.

The ape understands that the human doesn’t know something the ape does. Babies can’t do this they assume everyone knows what the baby knows

This isn’t a very good experiment. Hunting is itself modeling another animals behaviour. That doesn’t mean every animal that anticipates another’s behaviour believes that other animal has a mind lol

But how do we know they’re not just seeing patterns and look at the pile not King Kong. They know that human has hit that one pile so why would they think the human would hit anything else?

Yeah I saw the experiment and if you’re confusing that costume with a real ape you need new glasses.
