The independent one. The one who never needs help. And it’s exhausting. So your body starts screaming for relief. Anxiety. Illness. Addiction. Not because you’re weak. Because your nervous system is tired of surviving. And you repeat the pattern. Every time. The abandoned child picks unavailable partners. The yelled-at child becomes a people-pleaser and avoids conflict. Trauma isn’t only what happened to you. It’s learning that being yourself costs you love.
