In September 2015, 26-year-old #BrettHarman from Spalding, Lincolnshire, was told he had acute lymphoblastic leukaemia—an aggressive blood cancer. He’d been exhausted, battling back pain and constant infections, but never imagined it was cancer. As he endured months of intensive chemotherapy, losing three stone and his immune system along the way, one person never left his side: his girlfriend, #HannahStinson. The couple had met years earlier while working at Domino’s Pizza. Hannah, who was training as a nurse, understood the brutal reality of cancer treatment and became Brett’s anchor—helping him eat, get out of bed, and believe he would survive. By early 2016, he was in remission. Determined to make life count, Brett proposed to Hannah in Las Vegas in 2018, in front of the Bellagio fountains as Elton John’s “Your Song” played. He later left teaching to launch Rush Hour Escape Rooms, chasing a dream they now felt lucky to still have. In 2021, they received more joyful news: Hannah was pregnant with their daughter, Summer. But at four months pregnant, Hannah found a lump on her leg. Tests revealed BCOR sarcoma, a rare and aggressive cancer. Lightning had struck twice. Hannah began chemotherapy while carrying their baby. In December 2021, she gave birth prematurely to Summer, two months early. Despite her own failing health, she never complained.
