Please give them paracetamol or ibuprofen beforehand. It’s ok, the ER will still believe your child’s symptoms and you don’t need to “prove” they’re in pain when you arrive in the ER.

Snacks, drinks, chargers, games, books, a favorite toy, a change of clothes, and their stuffy - that’s what we take. Lots of that for adult ER visits too

I remember my sister was about 8, getting her tonsils out, she asked our mom if it would hurt. My mom said yes, it will, but it will feel better after about a week. When I had my brain surgery, she said life will suck for a few months, but this has to happen. Honest, but reassuring.

my kids know that if they have a shot for any reason, we immediately get ice cream after. we hype it up and if that means we see eating ice cream at 10 am... we are eating ice cream.

Using medical procedures as a threat to behave is wild. I will use going to the ER as a consequence when my child is doing something dangerous, but that’s not a lie. This is all really good advice. Thank you!
