هذه الأبيات تُقرأ عند المتصوفة على أنها حديث عن المحبوب الإلهي لا عن محبوبٍ بشري، إذ جرت عادة الشعر الصوفي أن يستعير ألفاظ الحب والغزل للتعبير عن الشوق إلى الله تعالى. يا نَسيمَ الريحِ قولي لِلرَّشا لَم يَزِدني الوِردُ إلّا عَطَشَا النسيم هنا رمزٌ للنفحات الإلهية والأحوال الروحية، أما الوِرد فهو الذكر والعبادة. والمعنى أن السالك كلما أكثر من الذكر والعبادة ازداد شوقًا إلى الله، لأن القرب لا يُطفئ نار المحبة بل يزيدها اشتعالًا. فالعطش هنا عطش الروح إلى المزيد من المعرفة والقرب. لي حَبيبٌ حُبُّهُ وَسطَ الحَشَا إِن يَشَأ يَمشي عَلى خَدّي مَشى الحبيب هو الحق سبحانه في التأويل الصوفي. وقد استقر حبُّه في أعماق القلب حتى صار العارف مستسلمًا لإرادته استسلامًا كاملًا، راضيًا بكل ما يقضي به من نعمة أو ابتلاء، فلا يرى لنفسه اختيارًا مع اختيار محبوبه. روحُهُ روحي وَروحي روحُهُ إِن يَشَأ شِئتُ وَإِن شِئتُ يَشَا لا يقصد المتصوفة بهذا الاتحاد الحقيقي بين العبد وربه، وإنما يعبرون عن حالة الفناء في المحبة؛ أي أن العبد يغيب عن أهوائه ورغباته فلا يبقى له قصد إلا ما يوافق مراد الله. فتتحد الإرادة بالطاعة والمحبة، لا بالذات والحقيقة. تصور الأبيات رحلة السالك إلى الله: يبدأ بالشوق، ثم يزداد عطشًا كلما أكثر من الذكر والقرب، ثم يفنى عن إرادته وهواه حتى لا يرى لنفسه اختيارًا مع اختيار محبوبه، فيبلغ مقام الرضا والمحبة الكاملة. ولهذا تُعد هذه الأبيات من أجمل ما يُستشهد به في التعبير عن الشوق الصوفي والوجد الإلهي. In the Sufi reading, the poem is not about a human beloved but about the Divine Beloved. The speaker describes a spiritual journey in which every act of remembrance and worship deepens his longing for God rather than satisfying it. As love grows, the seeker willingly surrenders his own desires to the Divine Will, reaching a state where personal wishes fade before the beloved’s command.
