remember: dairy, tea and coffee prevent the absorption of iron. Best to take iron supplement with vitamin c to boost absorption.

Ok hear me out here in Sweden ALL old people cooked in cast iron and my dad kept telling me, you have to cook your food in cast iron. Now I don’t own anything other than cast iron, I eat red meat 1-2 times a week (always cooked in cast iron) and paired with a lemon salad for absorption and my ferritin which was rarely above 15 is now NEVER below 120. Trust the oldies! And cooking in cast iron adds iron to everything you cook in it.

MY FERRITIN WAS A 4!!!! A freaking 4 and no one offered any help. I started taking iron supplements and 3 months later it was a 6 😑 I've been suffering for years and my doctors dont do anything.

Mine was 25, but the doctor said I didn’t need to supplement. I had horribly heavy periods, zero energy, hair falling out, brain fog, my nails were brittle. I learned women need a ferritin level of 70-100 to feel “good” so I started supplementing and everything has improved. Even periods are more manageable since I’m no longer stuck in a low iron loop. Why do women’s health concerns go ignored like 😭

I started taking flinstones vitamins with extra iron every day, they definitely made a difference. I recently started taking an iron supplement of 65mg to help, too.

the low iron tik toks are plauging me so much that i just ordered a burger. hopefully that one burger will fix it. this has been my strategy for years. so far 1 burger every other week is not the solution.

OMG yes. I’m two months post iron infusion and my lips are pink now. They’ve always been kinda grey. My face and neck use to be grey too. Now I look my actual color. It’s crazy 😭😭😭

I showed my dermatologist a picture of me in high school and was like hey is it weird i used be brown skin and now im super light ? she sent me for blood work, my numbers were so low i spent 3 nights in the hospital 😂 not just my iron and ferritin i had multiple severe deficiencies because of undiagnosed celiacs 😂
