Train for function. The obliques are highly important for stabilizing the spine. Plus they function by resisting and assisting with mobility of the spine. Obliques are also highly important for every athletic movement. You’re putting in the work anyway, why not build strength on quality movement patterns that keep your joints safe? Same muscle gains, better quality of life.

So… I’ve recently started my weight loss journey and so far I’ve went from 346 to 325 but one issue I keep coming across is the very to right section of my abs (just under my right man boob 😅) keeps on pulling into bad bad muscle cramps. Once it starts the after math pain can last hours. It will start twitching some and pull into the worse muscle cramps ever. Yes, I drink a lot of water and keep my electrolytes up and yes I’ll eat bananas daily. Usually the workouts that will trigger this is if I do anything that makes me heavy breathe like the elliptical and of course, workouts like situps and crunches… any suggestions?

Love your content. I do want to add Obliques still need to be trained in women- Your obliques matter because they’re what keep your core truly strong — not just “ab strong,” but stable and supported. They protect your lower back, help you move better when you run or lift, and keep everything from twisting or collapsing under load. And honestly, they’re a big part of getting that tight, pulled-in midsection feeling — especially after having kids.

So question, for calorie deficit and goal protein. Do you recommend taking ideal body weight or actual body weight when getting your protein goal?

Genuine question: I heard that your Abdominals are not just the one that you mentioned but they go a full 360 around your body (including lower back). Is this true?

Sooo I’m petite and weigh about 105lbs which is 47kgs…. So technically I could eat 74g of protein which is 47x1.6 .. ? 😍 bc I tried hitting 110 protein and it just so hard being on a deficit for my petite body and eat that much protein lol

I’ve only been eating around 1500 calories a day. So isn’t that a constant deficit

I agree with most of the statements but planks and ab rollouts with work abdominals isometricly we have data that isometrcis do cause growth but we also need high degrees of effort, the main function of abs is spinal flexion and we cant meaningfully bias abs that’s why something like cable ab crunch or decline dumbell crunch will better overall for hypertrophy also we can load the them overtime👍🏻
