in New York State, they can’t cut your hours for warranty work so they can’t pay you 4.0 hours for an 8.0 hour job and a lot of times we actually get paid more than the book time because our warranty advisor has access to a whole bunch of different sites like i did an axle seal on a 25 escape yesterday it pays 1.2 i think but it was warranty i got 2.5 hours for something i can do in 0.5-0.8

I tell everyone jump from shop to shop, stay for a little, learn alot, get certified, and keep moving. Everytime u move they offer you more per hour. School isnt need. At 22 i make $45 per hour

I stayed late one time helping my buddy with an evaporator and that kick started my career. Wouldn’t be where I am without that dude giving me a chance

Independent shops don’t pay for shit and I didn’t learn jack shit at independent shops I learned more in half a year at ford so far than I did 3 years at an independent shop like you’re never gonna learn how to replace seatbelt tensioners at an independent shop or rebuild wiper motors all you’re gonna do is brakes and shocks and that’s it
