Wild! I grew up with Jesse Jackson as a central pillar of Black political power and pride when I was a 90s kid, but I never heard about his PRIDE. 🌈 I'm glad to now know.

I was a 15 year old gay kid in Oklahoma and I remember that speech very clearly. I've been a JJ stan from that day.

History is littered with advocates for one minority group throwing another under the bus for their own gain (ex: first wave white feminists excluding women of color from the advocacy). It's nice to see someone embrace others and acknowledge that discrimination against one group is discrimination against us all. Rest in power 💜

I was in college when he ran for President. He came to my school & I spoke to him.. I’ll never forget how huge his presence was. Such a great man.

People forget that he ran on an incredibly socialist platform. Jackson was leaps and bounds ahead of so many other liberal politicians for decades. A true upright man.

I woke up & found out Rev Jackson had passed. I had a visceral reaction. I was 11 when he was running for election, and just figuring out who I was. He was the only politician who cared to think of us, and I felt that from a young age. We’ve lost a great man whose absence is far-reaching. May his memory be a blessing.

I hate that heroes such as him are passing during such an awful time in our country. We owe it not only to ourselves but also to their legacies to continue fighting

I saw Mr Jackson in Kennedy airport in New York, and I was quite young then and he was surrounded by police officers and he looked at me he probably saw my eyes were probably as big as dinner plates, Because I was just in awe of this man and he winked at me. The funny thing is that I was at the UN with my stepdad where I'd seen Nelson Mandela speak at a general assembly and after I met Nelson Mandela. So it's just an amazing experience seeing Jesse Jackson and him acknowledging me absolutely floored me.

Driving into Chicago yesterday just after it was announced he passed away there was a rainbow over the city, no rain very sunny. But a rainbow formed around the sunrise. It was beautiful! RIP Jessie
