People say that if you “act” a certain role long enough, it becomes who you are forever.
That’s a dramatic idea — but it’s not entirely true.
Yes, repeated behavior shapes you. But shaping is not the same as trapping.
Humans are not concrete. We adapt, we evolve, we outgrow versions of ourselves. Leaders act strong. Fighters act fearless. Even kindness can be performed at first. But a role is a tool — not a prison.
The real danger isn’t playing a role.
The danger is forgetting that it is a role.
As long as you’re aware, you can step out of it. The brain rewires. Identity shifts. Growth happens.
A mask only becomes your face when you forget you’re wearing it.
