Funny enough… I did this position myself towards the end of my pregnancy not knowing it helped spinned them, solely because it felt amazing, like scratching an insane itch. Needless to say, my babies both came out within 30 mins of active pushing. 2 pushes for my first, 5 pushes for my second.

This is what I wanted when i was stuck at 9cm dang it and the nurse says you can’t you have epidural I was still pissed when thinking I ended csection after I have my first twins and singleton vaginally and ended cs in my 3rd pregnancy 😩😩

How do you prevent a BP dump from decr venous return when pt is supine like this? Do you wedge their hip to one side at all? Especially after an epidural….(retired L&D RN here).

extra tip: move the bed away from the wall a little and take a flat sheet and wrap under upper back and up under armpits and have support person stand at top of bed and hold on to the sheet to help support them and prevent them from ending up on the ground!

Bc my patients are extra, I do a sort of modified Walchers with the lower part of the bed still attached, but lowered completely. I place a wedge or pillow wedge behind her back. When I tell you those little babies coming descending down. I love Spinning Babies!!

With an epidural I keep the bottom of bed attached just lowered and airplane the stirrups out to the side so there’s a gap for their legs but if they slide forward they will land on the middle of the bed that’s lowered all of the way!
