“Ambivalence is worse than mediocrity because if you choose a comfortable life, at least you have a peace of mind knowing you made your choice yet if you choose greatness but fall into the ambivalence trap, it’s the same feeling of choosing mediocrity but without the peace of mind. Stop suffering from the choosing but pick the path & commit to it.”

There is no defined narrative to our lives (other than the ones we construct within ourselves) and therefore there is no actual path to commit to. All decisions lead to the same end point. It’s just a matter of what you can or can’t live with in the meantime.

Sweetie I’ve learned to keep it simple and walk the path the almighty has put in front of me. Where it goes only God knows 🤷🏼

It's akin to what people call "basketball dreams". And I look at them and ask, what steps are you making between point A and point B, that bring you peace of of mind and real security? And it's usually just *crickets*. It's cute at 22, it's pitiful at 42. Security doesn't always look lavish, what it does look like is FREE, free to re-choose without the loss bringing a dooms day into your life. It's not riches that bring happiness, it's security. Stable choices placed together become grandiose without fame or titles. Grandiosity itself with no fallbacks, is just narcissism. Titles and fame are for OTHER people to bestow unto you as your stability grows.

But people choose mediocrity out of fear of trying and secretly resent themselves

This is assuming you can choose your own choices. Like what does “picking” mediocrity mean if you would be unhappy with it? You can’t control that

Mediocrity is also relative to your background and life experiences.that said, that’s a very valid point

It’s such a dope book. It’s so fascinating how all the characters handled their lives so differently. How circumstances can shape us, but our perspective and will are more powerful still.
